No. 1 Milwaukee Bucks vs. No. 8 Detroit Pistons

The Milwaukee Bucks are now one win away from moving on to the Eastern Conference semifinals. After three games, the NBA’s top-ranked team has made easy work of the eighth-seeded Detroit Pistons with or without the presence of Blake Griffin.

The series continues on Monday when the Pistons try to stave off elimination on their home floor in Game 4.

Giannis Antetokounmpo 14 points and 10 rebounds on 5-for-13 shooting. Ex-Piston Khris Middleton scored 20 points and point guard Eric Bledsoe added 19 points. The Bucks were 14-for-38 from 3-point range, where the Pistons struggled again, shooting 11-for-36.

The Eastern Conference’s top seed brushed off the return of Blake Griffin and slow start to cruise to a 119-103 victory, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven first-round series.

Griffin scored 27 points in 30 minutes after missing the first two games of the series at Milwaukee with a sore left knee, in the first postseason game in the two-year history of LCA.

The Pistons appeared to be energized by the return of Griffin, but they had no chance with the poor performance from center Andre Drummond. The seven-year pro who helped propel the Pistons into the playoffs was dominated by Bucks center Brook Lopez, who finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots, as the Bucks are a perfect 7-0 against the Pistons this season.

Drummond, plagued by foul trouble, suffered through a nightmarish 5-for-14 shooting night in 30 minutes.

Matchups to watch

1. Blake Griffin vs. Giannis Antetokounmpo: For Detroit’s sake, let’s hope that Griffin can get back to himself for the majority of the series. But even so, he’s going to be met with a host of defenders ready to lock him down. Antetokounmpo is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate and never shies away from a challenge, so he should guard Griffin for at least portions of most games. That will be must-watch TV as one of the league’s best and most versatile offensive players takes on the Greek Freak.

2. Brook Lopez vs. Andre Drummond: Lopez has reinvented himself as a 3-point specialist and took it to new heights this season. He rarely goes into the paint on offense, so it will be interesting to see what Detroit does with Andre Drummond. They need his size to help protect the rim, but he’ll also have to run out on Lopez to contest his 3s well behind the line.

The Bucks are too loaded, even without Malcolm Brogdon, and Griffin’s health issues make it hard to imagine Detroit will be able to take a game off the NBA’s best regular-season team.

    Betting Knowledge:

    ATS- Against The Spread

Betting against the spread is a good betting strategy when the point spread is low, or the bettor believes the team they are betting on can beat their opponent by at least the point spread advertised. If the bettor believes the team will win big, betting against the spread will result in a huge payout. An example of betting against the spread would be if a wager that the Boston Celtics (-7) would beat the Indiana Pacers (+7). That means the Celtics would have to win by more than 7 points for the individual to win his bet.
