The Minnesota Twins continue in their effort for a head-to-head tilt with the Detroit Tigers. An ugly road run-in with the Kansas City Royals has people questioning the Tigers once again before they kick-start the new week. But they aren’t the only team.

They got slapped with a cold dose of reality in their very first venture away from Comerica Park in the second half of the season. They swept the Twins and the Texas Rangers and pulled together a seven-game winning streak.

They dropped all three games to the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. It was an absolute letdown considering how good the Tigers looked out of the All-Star break. Now, they’ll face the herculean task of going on the road and knocking off the Twins.

Minnesota hasn’t been good this season, but they’re winning the head-to-head series meetings between these two teams. And they’ll have the luxury of playing in their home building. The Tigers have to show some fight defensively. They kept digging holes against a Royals team that scored five-plus runs in all three games. But the pitching is unreliable for the Tigers, and they’re allowing an average of 5.52 runs per game on the road. Only the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks have been worse.

The Tigers are probably worth a look here, but I’m leaning toward the over if forced to pick. Pineda has allowed 33 hits and 16 runs in his last 21.2 innings. Both of these guys can get hit hard more times than not. Expect the Tigers to win this match.
