The Utah Jazz will face the Houston Rockets in Game 5 at the Toyota Center on Wednesday.
Utah needs the late success it found in Game 4 to continue if it hopes to remain alive with a win in Game 5 on Wednesday night in Houston.
The Jazz trailed entering the fourth quarter Monday in Salt Lake City, but the Rockets missed their final 13 3-point attempts as Utah avoided the first-round sweep with a 107-91 win. Utah has shown steady improvement against James Harden and the high-octane Houston offense. Utah outscored Houston 31-12 in the fourth quarter.
The Jazz held a 52-35 rebounding edge and connected on 43 percent of their field-goal attempts, including 11 of 35 from behind the arc.
Donovan Mitchell scored 19 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter to propel the Utah Jazz to a 107-91 victory over the Houston Rockets. Jae Crowder added 23 points Ricky Rubio had 18 points and 11 assists, Derrick Favors recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Royce O’Neale added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Houston needs to clamp down on defense and get something, anything, from Clint Capela and the bench. Houston got solid contributions from James Harden, Chris Paul, P.J. Tucker
Clint Capela the Swiss big man is dealing with multiple infections and that can’t be fun. He’s getting undercut on lob attempts now and Houston’s best lineup in Game 4 was the Tuckwagon lineup. That group can handle 5 minutes at a time, but it cannot survive for huge stretches like it was asked to do in Game 4.
James Harden scored 30 points, Chris Paul added 23 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals for the Rockets. Eric Gordon scored 16 points and PJ Tucker added 13.
Houston shot 35.4 percent from the field, including 17 of 46 from 3-point range. But they actually seemed to be in decent shape with a lead heading into the fourth quarter, until the Jazz broke the game open with a 15-1 run.
