Houston Rockets VS Utah Jazz (Game 4) Monday 04/22/19
No. 4 Houston Rockets vs. No. 5 Utah Jazz
The Houston Rockets will go for the sweep when they visit the Utah Jazz in Game Four of their best-of-seven first round series on Monday night.
Houston completely dominated the first two games at home, then snuck past the Jazz in Game 3 on Saturday night to take a 3-0 series lead. They’ll now have a chance to sweep the series in Game 4 on Monday night
Harden overcame a poor shooting performance and scored 14 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, leading the Houston Rockets to a 104-101 win Saturday over the Utah Jazz for a commanding 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.
The Utah Jazz won 29 of their 41 home games during the regular season, but lack enough scoring around second-year pro Donovan Mitchell. In Game Three, the Jazz missed 13 of their 38 free throw attempts and were unable to make the plays down the stretch. Utah assisted on 21 of their 32 made field goals and shot 42 percent overall.
Donovan Mitchell did his part with a game high 34 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. The rest of the Utah starters combined to score 33 points on 10-for-22 from the field.
1. Donovan Mitchell vs. James Harden:
This is a star-driven league and franchises win games and championship due to those aforementioned star players. Harden is the reigning MVP and has a good chance at winning his second straight MVP award after averaging 36.1 points per game this season. With that said, MItchell is a star himself. He’s averaged over 26 points per game on over 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc in the calendar year of 2019. Most of the games in this series will likely be close, so it all comes down to which one of these star players can take over and win their games for their teams.
2. Gobert vs. Capela:
While Mitchell is the “star” on the Jazz, it’s Rudy Gobert who is the most valuable on the squad. His ability to alter shots will prove instrumental when Harden attempts to drive to the rim. However, he was arguably outplayed by Clint Capela during last year’s semifinals matchup. Considering Gobert is an All-NBA player and Capela has yet to reach that level, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year needs to put his imprint on this series by dominating his matchup with Capela.
Rockets are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Under is 15-6-1 in Rockets last 22 overall.
Under is 7-3 in Jazz last 10 home games.
Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Utah.
ATS- Against The Spread
Betting against the spread is a good betting strategy when the point spread is low, or the bettor believes the team they are betting on can beat their opponent by at least the point spread advertised. If the bettor believes the team will win big, betting against the spread will result in a huge payout. An example of betting against the spread would be if a wager that the Boston Celtics (-7) would beat the Indiana Pacers (+7). That means the Celtics would have to win by more than 7 points for the individual to win his bet.
